"The new International Medical Zone here is truly excellent; it's now much more convenient for my foreign friends to seek medical treatment." On April 21st, the International Medical Zone of Union Hospital Chegu Campus was officially put into operation. Gazing at the upgraded International Medical Zone, Cheryl deMena (Chinese name "Mei Xue"), an American physician, couldn't help but exclaim in admiration.

The Chegu Campus of Union Hospital is a pivotal component of Wuhan Union Hospital's strategic blueprint for "one hospital with four campuses." Since the establishment of its International General Practice Clinic in 2012, the Chegu Campus has cumulatively treated approximately 11,000 patient visits. It has progressively expanded its services to include specialized clinics for French and Japanese patients, as well as premium domestic healthcare services. Additionally, the campus has forged partnerships with over a dozen commercial insurance providers, offering both domestic and international patients a comprehensive, one-stop medical solution that encompasses outpatient care and inpatient services.

"The new International Medical Zone spans approximately 3,800 square meters and is equipped with multilingual navigation services, private waiting areas, and cross-cultural communication support. It has also established remote consultation collaborations with overseas medical institutions," explained Wang Hongbo, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee at Union Hospital. The new International Medical Zone has launched a direct insurance billing feature, partnering with insurance companies to create a seamless, "one-stop" medical payment solution. "In layman's terms, this means that foreign patients can now access medical services using their 'international health insurance,' eliminating the need for upfront payment and the hassle of complex reimbursement procedures," Wang added.

"Over the past 13 years, the International Clinic at Union Hospital's Chegu Campus has provided comprehensive services to foreign faculty members and their families from schools, helping them settle down comfortably in the Chegu area," said Li Saili, the Chinese head of Yangtze River International School for Foreign Children. "Currently, our school has over 90 foreign teachers and their family members. Now, with the renovation and upgrade of the International Clinic, it has become even more convenient for our foreign teachers to seek medical care."

"The Chegu Campus of Union Hospital has cultivated a distinctive model integrating 'multilingual medical consultations + direct commercial insurance billing,' serving over a thousand foreign patients annually on average. It has emerged as a significant portal for regional internationalized healthcare services," remarked Peng Yixiang, Secretary of the Party Committee at Union Hospital Chegu Campus. "Looking ahead, we will continue to enhance the quality of our international medical services, aiming to attract global talent to settle in Wuhan and, more specifically, in the Chegu area."
